Green Bowel Movement
Green Bowel Movement
A green bowel movement, in contrast with a red, blue, orange, yellow, black, clear, or brown bowel movement, is green. It is green because, when the light of the bathroom strikes the log in the toilet, some of the light waves are absorbed by the log, but others are reflected and allow you to see the log floating in the toilet waters. These reflected light waves are of the frequency commonly known as “green”.
Cause of Green Bowel Movements
A common cause of green bowel movements is an excessive consumption of vegetables rich in chlorophyll such as broccoli, blue-green algae, spirulina, or wheat-grass juice. Additional causes of green fecal matter may be peculiarities of the digestive process or the effect of laying in the open sun for several days.
Cure for Green Bowel Movements
In the event of unexpected or unwanted green bowel movements, a change of diet for a period of several days may help alter bowel movement color. If this has no impact, consultation with a medical professional may be helpful in returning bowel activity to a more regular color.
